We learned about programming, participation and safety measures in the current environment; and going forward, plans and expectations. Leaders also responded to questions from the audience.
Apr. 19, 2020 (York County, SC) ESMMYC leadership team members, Sara Cain-da Costa of Synergy Yoga Wellness and Janet Wojcik of Winthrop University, shared mindfulness and meditation techniques for stress reduction, concentration and focus. Critically important in this challenging time, these approaches can also be used for management of pain, chronic illness, and weight.
Mar. 24, 2020 (York County, SC) ESMMYC welcomed Kelsey Allen to our February 11, 2020, general membership meeting. She spoke about Eat Smart Move More South Carolina (ESMMSC) work on House Bill H-32-50 on Healthy Bucks. Lynn Caldwell discussed ESMMYC Access to Healthy Foods work. The meeting concluded with a roundtable discussion.

Fort Mill, SC (Jan. 5, 2020) ESMMYC took a field trip for our August 2019 general meeting! We volunteered with a food truck serving free meals in lower-income communities. The Community Café works to reduce food insecurity in Fort Mill, Rock Hill, Lake Wylie and Tega Cay.
York County, SC (Oct. 13, 2019) The October ESMMYC meeting included SNAP-Education program information, a lesson in healthy eating, and a live demo of healthy spinach chicken quesadillas, with substantial samples! SNAP-Ed promotes healthy lifestyles, especially for at-risk population groups experiencing the greatest burden of chronic disease.
